Google reveals Government censorship requests are on the rise




Put Google updated its report to show how many times the Governments around the world wants to censor search results, submit videos on YouTube or examine user data in the second half of last year. Each request is logged and detailed, with filings mostly from United States, United Kingdom and India. The demands of censoring a video where a Canadian citizen destroyed creative of his passport (not met) through to blogs promoting hate speech and violence (met). List of Mountain View allows an interesting read, but it is not all bad news: where videos were simply critical or satirical of the local authorities, the search giant has declined to make em, respecting the right of citizens to freedom of expression in the vast majority of cases.
